FC Köln, or FC Cologne in English, is a German football club. It was formed 1948 as a merger of the two clubs Kölner Ballspiel-Club 1901 and SpVgg Sülz 07. Köln. The club plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of German football. Nicknamed The Billy Goats, FC Cologne's mascot is a male goat named Hennes (after veteran player, Hennes Weisweiler). The team's home colours have been white and red throughout its history.

The competition between Mönchengladbach and Cologne is widely considered the strongest of the rivalries. The rivalry sparked in 1964 when Cologne's manager switched his allegiance to Mönchengladbach. Games between the two are often filled with animosity and tension.
